Angelina Ballerina
The Angelina Ballerina collection was one of American Girl's first product lines that featured another toy besides dolls. These products were based on a book series that was started in 1982 by Katharine Holabird. Angelina Mouseling is an adorable white plush mouse and wears a pale pink tutu with matching toe shoes and hair ribbon. Her best friend, Alice Nimbletoes, her baby sister, Polly, and her cousin, Henry Mouseling, are also plush mice in Angelina's collection. Angelina Ballerina products were made by American Girl from 2001 until 2004, when the product rights were obtained by the Target Corporation. Angelina and Alice come in several sizes: the most common are 9 inches and 14 inches. Henry and Polly come in one size, which is close to the 9-inch Angelina. Accessories, extra outfits, furniture items, and other playsets are available for the 9-inch Angelina and her friends. Other products, such as puzzles and sketch pads, also feature Angelina.Read About (and Watch) Angelina's Spins and Twirls
Since 1982 when the first Angelina Ballerina book was written, over twenty books have been written about this adorable little mouse with big dreams! There are also nearly 40 short videos about Angelina and the other mice she knows in the town of Chipping Cheddar, with more to come later. You can read all about Angelina and her friends at ballet class, her teacher Miss Lily, and her family. Angelina loves to dance and hopes to be a prima ballerina someday. She dances so much that she even does it in her dreams! She also learns how to handle different types of conflict, such as adjusting to a new baby sister and dealing with jealousy when a new student in her ballet class gets all the attention. These books and movies are lots of fun for little girls, especially those who are interested in dance or animals. They also show good examples of how to relate to your family and friends.
