Kailey (2003-2004)
Kailey Hopkins was the second Girl of the Year doll to be offered by American Girl. She has long pale blonde hair, chocolate-brown eyes that open and close, and a sweet smile. Kailey's head and limbs are made of sturdy vinyl, while her body is soft cloth. Her head can turn from side to side and her arms and legs are posable. Kailey wears an adorable turquoise flowered sundress and tan woven sandals.You can purchase extra clothing and accessories designed just for Kailey, such as her boogie board, lime green swimsuit, and wet suit with water shoes. She even has her own pet: a dog named Sandy. Since Kailey was only offered by the American Girl company for a limited time, her collection is somewhat small, but you can purchase clothing, accessories, and furniture for her from two of American Girl's other collections, the historical dolls and Just Like You dolls. Both of these collections are very large, which makes it easy to find good wardrobe additions or other special items for Kailey. You can also mix and match extra items for Kailey from the other Girl of the Year dolls' collections

Kailey has her very own book, simply titled Kailey. Kailey Hopkins lives near a beach in California, and loves every minute of it! Her favorite things to do are swimming, boogie boarding, and exploring the tide pools. When she hears that a mall is going to be built on the beach, she's excited at first, until she realizes that it will destroy that part of the coastline and take away the sea creatures' homes. Kailey can't bear the thought of this, so she sets out to find a way to stop the mall from being built.
