Felicity: An American Girl Adventure
Felicity's movie is the American Girl company's second film made, and was released in 2005. Shot in beautiful locations that were designed to resemble colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, this film shows what life was like for young girls growing up right before the Revolutionary War began. The characters and several of the stories in the movie are taken from the books that were written as companion items for the Felicity and Elizabeth dolls. As the movie begins, you will see Felicity Merriman's love of horses and tendencies toward being a tomboy. Her mother thinks it's time for her to start becoming a "proper gentlewoman," though, so she is enrolled in etiquette classes where she meets her best friend, Elizabeth Cole. Felicity has several difficult struggles throughout the story, such as how to save her favorite horse from its cruel master, being caught in the middle of different friends' and family members' political views, and learning to love her enemies. Through it all, she finally starts to grow into a wonderful young lady that knows her own mind and also knows how to care for others.
The two main characters, Felicity Merriman and Elizabeth Cole, are played by Shailene Woodley and Katie Henney. Other characters include Juliet Holland-Rose as Elizabeth's older sister Annabelle; Marcia Gay Harden and John Schneider as Mr. and Mrs. Merriman; David Gardner as Felicity's grandfather; Kevin Zegers as Mr. Merriman's apprentice, Ben Davidson; Janine Theriault as Felicity's etiquette teacher, Miss Manderly; and Geza Kovacs as the villain, Jiggy Nye---who just might have some good left in him after all!
